Description:

To live together in the huge land mass of the subcontinent (measuring 1.7 million square miles) has been a fantasy for many in this century. When I was a child, I used to hear about those happy days… from my parents when the followers of different beliefs and practices used to live together in one land.

When different regions of the globe are trying to be united, all we can say, with the deepest pain and frustration is, we wish we were together. We experienced one partition after another, which did not solve any problem except for forcing millions out of their land and making them rootless refugees overnight.

I have created four maps – that of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, as well as of undivided India, which are etched on mirror polished stainless-steel plates. The old fashioned round frames are made of stainless-steel razor blades. The mirror polished plates become an interactive medium in the act of viewing, as it always projects the reflection of the viewer.
